How to avoid burnout at work?

Take a break and take vacations. That's what I'll be doing starting next Friday. I've been burn out before. I was feeling tired all the time, my motivation to work dropped, I lacked energy, and it was hard for me to concentrate. It's hard on you, and I witnessed this first hand.

These are one of the most common symptoms of burnout. It's hard to notice when it started, but it's important to notice them and take action.

Currently, to keep me at bay is to take a long-overdue vacation. The second is having this blog that I'm always looking forward to writing. Another thing I saw that was successful for me was mindfulness.

Mindfulness is the act of focusing on your breath flow and being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling at every moment, without interpretation or judgment. There are a lot of apps to help you guide through meditation. I'm using Calm myself.

How one becomes burnout?

It differs. For me, it was a toxic work environment for one of the companies I used to work. Working there was a struggle. I always felt alone. I couldn't rely on anybody else to help me. Boss was always judging everybody and didn't listen to any feedback we gave him.

Working longer hours than I had to, dealing with other personal life matters in the meantime, etc. All put together resulted in me being unhappy and burn out. Plus, I didn't do any physical exercises. Right now, I have a dog I can take for a long walk in a nearby forest.

I'm not an expert at this matter. I know that it's easy to feel overwhelmed with work and negatively affect your personal life and mental health. Take breaks, especially when working from home. Do other activities than only work-related (I watch movies/tv shows with my wife or recently I play Witcher Monster Slayer).

Here's a great article that will help you understand symptoms and how to deal with the issue.
